Windsurfing: Queen Mary Reservoir Wind Direction: Onshore to Launch Site Wind Stength: 12-17 Surf / Sea State: Chop Air Temperature: Warm Sea Temperature: OK Weather: Sun/cloud Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Finished work early, came home, had a nap, then got to the reservoir about
2.45. Wind was varying between 10 and 17 knots I suppose. People had
rigged like 7.5 and less. I only have an 8m and a 6m so rigged up the 8m
as wanted to be powered up. It was awful, god knows what was wrong. Sail
was too big I guess I didn't seem to have any control and certainly was not
powered. Used it for 15 mins and then rigged up the 6m storm. Much more
control with this sail it was a lot easier and even planed for a bit but I
admit I was, for some reason, finding it difficult today, maybe I was
tired. Got blown into the moorings once and had to swim out with the kit.
Sail fell on my head and somehow the harness lines managed to hook onto my
harness whilst I was under the sail, probably my worst nightmare scenario,
but recovered ok from it. Guess I was out for about 3 hours altogether.
The wind blowing onshore was a complete pain in the arse, and this is was
makes it a two star day, because I also think this affected my performance.
Also the chop was shitty and because it was 'onshore' all the crap in the
reservoir (dead fish, bags, etc) had blown up to the launch spot URRGHH.
Good to get out though. Feels like I've run a marathon now I'm knackered.
